Make Your Child Brilliant!

Fuhuu....so, busy...busy...busy.....and padan muka me, dalam dok busy with several provisional requirements to be accomplished (as my provisional year ends this June)....pi plak 'volunteer' to do some marking for a paper that I plan to tutor next semester. Ala, konon bila busy....time management lagi efficient la...huhuh...I wish!!! Tapi, okay la kot.......when we have limited time, we tend to appreciate it more, eh???

By the way, just want to make a short note on a reality tv series that i watched yesterday...TV3 NZ, 7.30 every Wednesday. As the title implied, it's about how to develop your child....to become BRILLIANT!!! hahaha.....sapa tak nak anak dia pandai, beb??!!

tiga budak belang di suatu masa dahulu, One Utama 2006 (Adelia Farihah, Aina Damia, Aina Az-Zahra)

But the thing is....BRILLIANT ni bukan la totally straight A's student or the exam-result kind of thing. Sometimes, children can have a gift that lies beyond the school gates. For example, the class chatterbox may be fast-thinking with fantastic language ability, the class busy body may have a brilliantly curious mind and the class bossy boots may be a great natural leader.

New Kid on the Block...Budak Belang Bangi, Aleesya Nadiah, 2008 (awat macam muka mak dia sangat ni...)

Why must we be concern about this?? - the ideas, innovation and creativity of our children are the 'future'. In an exam-crazed system, not every child’s gifts can be captured on pen and paper tests. Jadi, kalau budak2 yg lemah dlm kelas tu, jangan la abaikan......sebab... Every child deserves an opportunity to be brilliant.

How is it done?? - An example given is for a kinesthetic learner – someone who learns best through ‘doing’ rather than working on paper. The way of improving his spelling is by combining it with things he loves, like swimming (swim and arrange several alphabets to come up with the right word)

So what do I learn??

Everybody’s got something. It’s just a matter of discovering it and developing it. So, get to know your child. Then, you know how to develop them...

I hope all of us will do a good job in making our child brilliant....Amin!!!
