@ home with Adelia

Adelia's childcare is closed from mid-december to 11th January, 2009. It is usual here to have a very long holidays at the end of the year. Christmas, New Year. The time of the year when people take a time off from their work, and most businesses are officially closed. But unlike them, I can't possibly be having a long holiday. First, because I already had an early holiday when my parents came to Auckland in October. Second, because my data collection is SUPPOSED to be finished by the end of the year, 2008. Work...work...work...that's all in my head. But then, I remember an advice from a friend : "spend your time with your children now, when they are still young. when they grew older, you will miss them. Quite logical, because later when they are bigger, they will spend more time on other things > School, homework, friend, sports...then, high school, then university, then work, married...the list goes. Realising that, I quickly ADJUST my thoughts > I AM GOING TO CHERISH THIS HOLIDAY WITH ADELIA. And this is how it goes :Wakey..wakey....the first thing she looks forward to in the morning is watering the plants. 'Pokok nenek', referring to the two small plants in the picture above. 'Pokok Nenek' as it is her grandmother that took it from Asiah's house and plant it there.I don't know what it is called, but I am glad to have it. Reminds us of the family back in Malaysia.

Then, I have to think of 'games' to keep her entertained. Like this one, it's called "which one". The cards are spread on the table, so she has to choose which one is which. She's good with animals, as she is often being exposed to them (going to the zoo, etc). She knows some of the fruits, but when it comes to vegetables > MUMMY FAILS AS WELL! Ya...ya....I just know the basic + the colourful one : like carrot, mushroom etc. I can't identify bitter gourd (i don't even know whether this is the right spelling.....hahaha). So Adelia, we may NEED TO EAT MORE VEGE....erkhhh! Besides identifying pictures, sometimes we play "ABC lari2". Weird name, huh? Haha....she just have to identify an alphabet/numbers, then put it in a bowl, and the run/jump/fly/hop around the table, to come back for the next alphabet. Quite tiring, as sometimes, mmg Adelia mengelat. But at least, now she can identify a few basic alphabets.

Muncung mulut....just like her mummy, when she's really into something. Just like this one, really thinking on how to arrange the puzzle pieces. When she plays puzzle with Din, they do it strategically. Like identify the pattern (it can be car, aeroplane etc). But, when it's with mummy...JUST DO IT! see...mummy is so unorganized. I just hope that Adelia is not confused. Better still, hopefully she takes the best of each other, rather than the worse.
Main bayar2 : in this picture, she's taking turn as the cashier...and I am the buyer. This shop is very2 cheap...everything you buy : ONLY TEN DOLLARS!
Or main doctor2. On the left, is when Adelia is the 'doctor'. On the right, is when it is her turn to be the patient. Muka sakit habis!
And guess what, the best toys are not the one that we bought at the shop. The best toys are the one that can be found in the house. Like, a broken headphone > becomes a stethoscope. Belon dan tali dia, ala2 untuk check tekanan darah gitu. hahaha...pots and pans.....the best toys ever. When it's time for me to cook, Adelia will take the unused pots and pans.....and cook for her bear. doesn't feel like cooking, she may just read for her bear.
Sometimes, mummy brings her to the playground. The nearest in city is at Victoria Park.
Then, tv-time or more like 'a-way-to-make-her-fall-asleep.

Adelia really hates the idea of sleeping, and will try not to. In her attempts to do so, she will do things that she shouldn't be doing. Ended up being scolded. Rather than forcing her to sleep, letting her watch Dora, or Litle Einstein, or Bob the Builder, is a better option.

Because...not long after....even before the story ended, she will take her place on the sofa....and zzzzzzzzzz.......by herself. Better option, as I do not have to scold her...hehe....

On top of all the fun we had together, the best thing is Adelia finally get rid of her nappy. Yeah....no more nappy memberatkan beg nak pi memana. The more important thing....extra money for other things...hehe. If you look closely in the picture...Adelia still managed to pose 'peace' while doing 'her thing'. Supermodel pun tak cam ni....hahaha....
